You may have heard about TRT before, but you may be unsure about what it means. TRT stands for Testosterone Replacement Therapy. This is basically a therapy that replaces natural testosterone with exogenous testosterone that you get from injecting testosterone. Whereas you could inject testosterone for physique and performance enhancement, a TRT is different from a cycle with testosterone.
TRT vs Cycle
When you run a cycle with testosterone (alone or stacked with whichever other compounds), you aim to enhance your physique and performance. You do so by injecting testosterone in higher dosages, so your total testosterone levels get higher than the “normal” levels in medicine.
- For reference – in medicine, normal testosterone levels vary anywhere between 300 ng/dL to 1,000 ng/dL.
When you cycle testosterone, you’re using testosterone either higher than this level, or maintaining testosterone at this level, but stacked with other anabolic steroids for your bodybuilding goals.
When you run TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy), you’re using testosterone for remaining healthy, not for physique and/or performance enhancement goals. That’s why, you usually use it alone, unless you need to add other anabolic steroids (such as Deca Durabolin – Nandrolone Decanoate or Human Growth Hormone – HGH) for other health issues. Moreover, you aim to keep testosterone levels within this range.
Higher Testosterone levels than this range are helpful for physique and performance enhancement. However, maintaining them for too long could lead to health issues such as high androgenic issues, cardiovascular issues, and others. That’s why people tend to run TRT as a way to simply stay healthy. As explained, you use Testosterone alone. And you usually use it in lower dosages, in order to keep Testosterone within the limit range.
However, you need to aim to keep testosterone in the upper limit range. Most people tend to find the dosage that will keep their testosterone in the 800 to 1,000 ng/dL.
TRT vs Cruise
TRT is basically the same cruise. Cruising is Testosterone Replacement Therapy with no differences. Usually, people call “cruise” when they naturally have normal T levels but are still in TRT. But TRT and cruise are the same.
What is the Right TRT Dosage?
You may have heard that testosterone dosage for a cycle starts at around 200 mg per week. In fact, more often, you could hear 300 mg per week. However, it is very common for people to use dosages of 400-600 mg/week. It is not uncommon to hear men using dosages of 1,000 mg per week or even more. Nevertheless, these are dosages for cycle purposes (physique and performance enhancement) because, more often than not, these dosages will bring testosterone levels way over the normal limit of 1,000 ng/dL. While that’s helpful, you can’t maintain such a level for too long.
When you are running TRT, on the other hand, you aim to keep levels within range. This means that the dosage is usually up to about 250 mg/week.
The exact dosage you need to run depends on each person individually. Some men find that 100 mg per week is enough to keep their testosterone levels at 900 ng/dL, for example. However, others need 200 mg per week to bring their testosterone to the same level.
So, I recommend keeping testosterone dosage during TRT that will keep your testosterone levels within 800 to 1000 ng/dL. Lower levels are not as effective to make you feel, perform, and look good, so unless you have a health condition that doesn’t allow you to keep T in this range, aim for it and no lower. But do not aim for higher levels, as said, because it can cause side effects.
The point is – you aim for the lowest effective dosage during TRT.
TRT Stacks
As said, you may also stack TRT with other anabolic steroids or whatever other compounds. But stacking during TRT is for health purposes solely!
For example, some people find out that they have naturally low levels of both testosterone and human growth hormone. For this reason, they need to use both testosterone injections and HGH injections so they can live normally. Moreover, some people suffer from joint pains (such as arthritis).
There’s Deca Durabolin (Nandrolone Decanoate) that helps alleviate that pain. People use Deca for their bodybuilding goals during the cycle. But if they stop Deca during TRT, they may find that the joint pain returns. That’s why they tend to continue with Deca for health purposes – to lower the pain.
Similarly to Testosterone, Deca dosage is usually kept at a lower dosage solely for health purposes. Higher dosages can also help build muscle, recover, etc. But similar to Testosterone, you can’t (and shouldn’t) use Deca in a higher dosage for too long. So, similar to Testosterone, people using Deca with joint pains use it during the cycle for physique and performance enhancement goals in higher doses but lower the dosage during the TRT. Usually, between 50 mg to 150 mg/week, aiming for the lowest effective dosage. People without joint pains, for example, may only use Deca during the cycle, but they don’t need it for TRT.
Similar situations apply to whatever other stacks. As said, the point of stacks with whatever other compound during TRT is for dealing with health issues!
Why Would Someone Run TRT?
TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) is usually prescribed by the doctor to their patients. Usually, patients get a prescription for testosterone injections as a form of TRT following bloodwork and various tests that indicate the man suffers from low testosterone levels (usually below 300 ng/dL). The doctors also help determine the best dosage for you.
That’s why, TRT is usually worked out with the help of your doctor. Nevertheless, there are men suggesting that their doctors refuse to prescribe testosterone despite their very low levels of testosterone (and all the negative symptoms that come with it), proven by the bloodwork.
That’s when a lot of men decide to “self” prescribe testosterone. Without actually having a prescription, they buy testosterone injections from Iron-Daddy.to and use them for TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) purposes in order to feel healthy, perform well both in the gym and bed, look better, and so on. In such cases, you need to work on the TRT plan yourself. We can help with that, but then again, as explained earlier, that’s all individual.
- PS: There are those who do actually get prescriptions of testosterone from their doctors, but they still choose to go for Iron-Daddy.to as their source of testosterone. Simply because the price of the testosterone injections they get from our source is significantly cheaper than they get from the doctors.

Do I Need TRT?
It is impossible to answer this question without bloodwork. You need to find your natural testosterone levels first, then you can decide whether or not you need TRT. Having low testosterone levels confirmed by blood work means that, most likely, yes, you do need TRT. Doctors may prescribe you that, or, as explained, you may “self” prescribe TRT, by purchasing testosterone injections online.
If you do not have low natural levels of testosterone, then your body doesn’t rely on external sources of testosterone (injections) to perform and feel healthy. Therefore, the answer is most likely no, you do not need TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy).
Still, there are exceptions. Some people still run TRT as a form of cruising. Cruising is basically TRT with little to no differences. However, men with normal natural levels of testosterone still choose to cruise (TRT) in order to avoid the hassle of PCT (Post Cycle Therapy).
PCT is that period after the cycle when you stop using testosterone (and/or whatever other anabolic steroids and all suppressive compounds). The reason PCT is important is because testosterone injections and whatever other steroids are suppressing natural testosterone production. That’s why, after the cycle, men tend to lose their gains – they don’t have enough testosterone. They simply don’t use steroids anymore (testosterone), and their bodies’ natural ability to produce testosterone is lowered or shut down. In short – no testosterone, both from external sources (exogenously) or internal sources AKA natural testosterone (endogenously). PCT helps bring back the levels of natural testosterone as they used to be prior to starting the cycle with suppressive compounds.
PCT vs TRT
If you’re already running TRT, chances are – your body will never produce normal amounts of testosterone naturally. That’s why you do not need PCT, simply because if you stop testosterone injections and go into a PCT plan, your testosterone levels are still going to be low. Also, if you’re in TRT, you never stop injecting testosterone. But PCT starts when all suppressive compounds (including testosterone) are out of the system. Stopping using testosterone and then going into PCT, then again, won’t help, because your body’s ability to produce testosterone is already lost.
If you’re having naturally high T levels, however, and use a cycle, then PCT is mandatory. Unless you plan to TRT despite you having normal testosterone levels naturally.
As said, some men decide to run TRT (cruise) despite their normal natural T levels to avoid the hassle of a PCT. This includes hormonal roller coasters which could lead to emotional rollercoasters, higher chances of losing more gains you’ve made during the cycle, and others. On the other hand, TRT (cruising) comes with its own downside – such as being unlikely to ever be able to stop testosterone injections, which is a big commitment. You could read some more about blasting and cruising (cycling and TRT) by clicking on the link. I strongly recommend it.
FAQs
Do I Need PCT If I TRT?
No, you don’t. If you’re running TRT, you’re most likely doing it because you have low natural testosterone levels. This means that the PCT plan is not effective. That’s because Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) plans are only helpful in bringing back the testosterone levels to what they used to be prior to starting the anabolic steroid cycle. If they were already low – you won’t get any help from PCT. Even if you do not have low natural levels of testosterone, if you’ve been on TRT for a long time, there are chances that the body cannot produce natural testosterone levels anymore. Simply because the body got used to the external source of testosterone (from injections), so it doesn’t produce testosterone on its own anymore.
A very harsh and long PCT plan may be helpful to regain the natural ability to produce T again if you haven’t been on TRT for too long. But there’s no guarantee of success.
For How Long Do I TRT?
Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is usually for the entire life. That’s why people with natural normal T levels do not usually venture to TRT immediately. As explained, the body will lose the ability to produce testosterone naturally if it is being suppressed for too long. You literally never stop injecting testosterone in order to have normal levels of this hormone that your body requires simply to feel well and stay healthy.
Why Do Men Lose the Ability to Produce Testosterone Naturally?
There are a lot of causes that could cause men to lose the ability to produce testosterone, requiring them to use testosterone injections as Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). Trauma, injuries, depression, using suppressing compounds for too long periods, incorrect diet, lack of exercise, aging – all can make a man suffer from low testosterone levels.
If you have low levels of testosterone prior to starting a steroid cycle but you don’t want TRT, you shouldn’t use testosterone, steroids, or anything suppressive. You should aim for natural ways to boost testosterone. But, unfortunately, they don’t work for everyone, and it is a very long journey without a guarantee of success. Testosterone injections such as TRT, on the other hand, are guaranteed to increase T levels and do it fast.
Do I Need Anti-Estrogens?
It greatly depends on your personal response. Some people do not need any anti-estrogens (Aromatase Inhibitors) at high doses of testosterone such as 500 mg/week. Others, however, need it at much lower doses such as 150 mg/week. It depends on each person individually.
How Often Should I Use Testosterone Injections for TRT?
To answer this question, we first must understand what the testosterone ester is that we’re talking about here. The point is that you need to maintain stable levels of testosterone in your blood system without fluctuations because those fluctuations could make you feel high and low in terms of fatigue, motivation, recovery, emotions, and so on and so forth. The ester of the testosterone determines how fast the testosterone will flush out of the system after you inject it. The longer the ester – the less frequently you need to inject.
That’s why I generally recommend longer esters of testosterone for TRT in order to avoid the hassle of too frequent injection schedules. Testosterone Cypionate or Testosterone Enanthate is injected twice a week, splitting the weekly dosage into two halves, used evenly apart throughout the week, similarly to what you aim for during a cycle with these testosterone versions. The only difference is in the weekly dosage.
What’s The Best Testosterone for TRT?
As explained earlier, TRT is there to keep you healthy by maintaining healthy (normal) levels of Testosterone. And you want to keep those levels stable. And you are likely to need to use Testosterone injections for the rest of your life. That’s why, the best competitors are usually the long esterified testosterone versions such as Testosterone Enanthate or Testosterone Cypionate. That’s because you can only use them twice a week. Some people suggest they have normal blood levels even by injecting the entire weekly dosage once a week, same day of the week, weekly.
Still, any testosterone version will do the work. Even if Testosterone Propionate can go for TRT. The problem is that this version of testosterone has a short half-life, meaning that you need to inject it daily or every other day. This makes it unsuitable for long term use.
What’s the Dosage I Should Use for TRT?
It depends on what works best for you. I recommend keeping testosterone levels anywhere between 800-1,000 ng/dL unless said otherwise by your doctor (usually, because of specific health issues). Dosages, however, differ from one man to another. A person could find that 100 mg/week keeps their levels within this range, but others suggest they need 250 mg/week to keep the same level.
Is TRT the Same as a Cycle?
No. A cycle is for bodybuilding purposes, for enhancing physique and performance. A TRT is for staying healthy. You can combine a TRT with a cycle, but people who never had any interest in bodybuilding or lifting weights can still be on TRT for health purposes. Both, however, usually involve testosterone injections. But the dosage, principles, and goals are very different.
