What is Finasteride?
Finasteride is a substance that is found in some famous products such as Proscar and Propecia (but there are others as well) which is used to treat enlarged prostate and hair loss in men. The product is a very potent type II 5a reductase inhibitor and this stuff is preventing conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a sex hormone. Plus to that, is being used to treat the benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – the enlargement of prostate.
But in the world of bodybuilding – the stuff is helping to protect head hair, hair loss prevention.
What is Finasteride Used For?
As it was mentioned, Finasteride is a substance that is used for hair loss prevention (preserving hair loss) and this is the main use for bodybuilders. But it can help with other things either, like for example, it can be very helpful for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
This product’s main uses include: scalp hair loss (the same reason why bodybuilders prefer this drug), enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, excessive hair growth as well as transgender hormone therapy.
How Does Finasteride Work?
Finasteride is inhibiting 5a Reductase and these types of drugs are preventing the conversion of testosterone to DHT. There are studies proving that the product is going to be helpful in reducing the serum DHT levels by approximately 65 to 70% and the prostate DHT levels by approximately 90%. This means the product is going to be extremely effective against prostate cancer and enlarged prostate.
By blocking the production of the DHT – finasteride (known as Proscar or Propecia) is reducing the androgen activity on the scalp and prostate, therefore reducing the prostate size and improving BPH.
What’s the Difference Between Proscar and Propecia?
Well, there’s none. They are both offering Finasteride substance which means they are basically doing the exact same thing, with the exact same mechanism of action, side effects and so on and so forth.
The difference is Propecia is coming in tablets of 1 mg while Proscar in tablets of 5 mg. This means that if you’ve used 5 tablets of Propecia then you’ve basically used a tablet of Proscar.
Finasteride Side Effects
Possible side effects include: impotence, loss of libido, trouble reaching an orgasm, headache, dizziness, skin rash, weakness and others. By feeling you get a side effect – lower the dosage.
Usually, side effects are dose dependent. The possible side effects are associated with too low DHT levels.
Why Buy Finasteride?
Finasteride is going to do a great job in preventing the conversion of testosterone to DHT and since DHT is the main culprit of hair and hair growth – you are going to do a great job into preserving your hair during an active anabolic/ androgenic steroid (AAS) administration.
